How to Check Video and Audio for SynthID Watermarks
SynthID is not only for still images. The public detector at synthid.com can also verify video and audio for Google DeepMind’s imperceptible watermark — after you sign in. This independent guide covers the workflow, published quotas, and how to read results without overclaiming.
Before you start
- Free checks happen on the official tool at synthid.com. CheckSynthID is independent and not affiliated with Google.
- Sign in is required. The official site typically offers Google, OpenAI, or Apple account options — confirm what you see live.
- Prefer the original or least-compressed video/audio file. Heavy re-exports can make watermarks harder to detect.
- No SynthID ≠ proof of human authorship. See Not detected ≠ human.
Video and audio quotas (rolling 24 hours)
Google’s Gemini help documents a usage quota of approximately:
- ~10 image checks
- ~10 video checks (up to 5 minutes total)
- ~10 audio checks (up to 3 hours total)
…within any 24-hour rolling window. The app notifies you when you reach the limit. Public coverage of the consumer detector often summarizes this as about ~10 checks per day. Always prefer the live official UI if numbers differ. Full write-up: SynthID Detector daily limit.
Practical tip for video: a few long clips can burn the duration budget even if you have unused “check count.” Trim or prioritize the segments that matter editorially.
Step-by-step: check video or audio
-
Sign in at synthid.com
Open https://synthid.com and sign in with Google, OpenAI, or Apple — whichever options the official site currently offers.
-
Upload your video or audio file
Submit the file you want to verify. Follow on-screen format guidance. Avoid unnecessary re-encodes before checking. For video, note total minutes against the ~5-minute daily duration cap; for audio, note length against the ~3-hour cap.
-
Read the result and save evidence
Note whether SynthID was detected, not detected, or inconclusive/unclear. Screenshot or export notes if you need a newsroom or brand audit trail. General walkthrough: How to use SynthID Detector.
How to read common outcomes
| Result | Practical meaning for video/audio |
|---|---|
| Detected | The file appears to carry a SynthID watermark from a supported system. Still verify context before publishing strong claims. |
| Not detected | No SynthID found. Does not prove the clip is human-made — many AI tools never apply SynthID. |
| Unclear | Needs more context: provenance, source questions, or other signals. Do not treat as a definitive yes/no. |

When the free video/audio quota is not enough
Spot checks stay free on the official detector. Editors and brand teams often need more than a day’s allowance — or a shareable results table. That is the gap our optional Batch Report ($9.99) addresses: up to 20 files, filled results, interpretation notes, typical turnaround 2–3 business days. Checks still use the official tool — we do not wrap a private Google API. Preview: sample Batch Report.
Orders may still be email-based until Stripe is live: upgrow.us@gmail.com.
FAQ
Does the free detector support video and audio?
Yes. After sign-in at synthid.com, you can upload images, video, and audio. Formats and UI can change — trust the live product.
How many video or audio checks do I get?
Per Google’s Gemini help: about 10 video checks (≤5 minutes total) and 10 audio checks (≤3 hours total) in a rolling 24-hour window, plus about 10 image checks. Details: daily limit guide.
Can I check a long video in one go?
Duration counts toward the video quota (about 5 minutes total per 24 hours). Long clips may need trimming or waiting for the rolling window to refresh. Confirm limits on the official UI.
Is CheckSynthID Google’s video/audio detector?
No. We are an independent guide and optional paid documentation service. Free detection always starts at synthid.com.
Run a free video or audio check now on the official detector, then come back if you need batch documentation.
