SynthID for Marketers
Campaign launches move fast: agency stills, AI-assisted mockups, influencer clips, and last-minute “final” exports. SynthID does not tell you whether every creative is “AI or not” — it checks for a specific, imperceptible watermark from supported systems. Used well, it is a useful gate before paid media and homepage publish. Used carelessly, it creates false confidence. This independent guide is for brand, performance, and content marketers.
Why brand teams should care
- Ad platform and policy risk. Some channels and brand guidelines already ask how AI-generated assets are disclosed or reviewed. A dated watermark check is one defensible artifact.
- Agency and freelancer handoffs. Zip files arrive with mixed provenance. SynthID is a fast signal — not a substitute for contracts and source stills.
- UGC and influencer packs. Social downloads are compressed and contested. Prefer masters when you can; still log what you checked.
- Audit trail for legal / brand safety. When someone asks “did we verify?”, a table beats Slack memory.

High-value marketing scenarios
| Scenario | Why check before ship |
|---|---|
| Paid social / display creatives | High spend + public scrutiny. Prioritize hero frames and primary SKUs. |
| Landing-page and homepage heroes | Trust and partner-brand adjacency; corrections are costly after launch. |
| AI-assisted concept art going live | Confirm whether a SynthID watermark appears; disclose per your brand policy if required. |
| Influencer / UGC packs | Unclear custody; watermark check is one gate beside rights and claim review. |
| Video and audio spots | Official detector supports video/audio with separate quotas — see video & audio guide. |
What SynthID is (and is not) for marketing QA
| Useful for | Not enough for |
|---|---|
| Checking whether a file appears to carry a SynthID watermark from a supported pipeline | Proving a creative is “100% human” if nothing is detected |
| Documenting Detected / Not detected / Unclear before ads go live | Replacing legal review, license checks, or claim substantiation |
| Aligning agencies on a shared verification step | Assuming every AI tool applies SynthID (many do not) |
Generic “AI detectors” that guess from pixels or tokens are a different category: SynthID vs AI detectors.
A practical brand QA workflow
-
Decide which assets need a watermark check
Prioritize paid media, homepage heroes, contested UGC, and AI-assisted finals. Skip routine licensed stock unless policy requires every upload.
-
Request the least-compressed master
Ask agencies for the export used for final production, not a compressed Slack preview. UI walkthrough: How to use SynthID Detector.
-
Check on the official free detector
Sign in at synthid.com, upload, and record the outcome. Expect about ~10 checks per day after login (confirm on the live UI). Quota detail: daily limit guide.
-
Phrase results for Slack, briefs, and legal
Prefer: “Official SynthID Detector: watermark detected / not detected on [file] on [date].” Avoid: “This proves authentic photography” or “This proves AI.”
-
Keep a short launch audit trail
Filename, channel, result, who checked, screenshot or table row. Enough for most brand-safety retrospectives.
Language templates (safe defaults)
- Detected: “Official SynthID Detector reported a SynthID watermark on this asset. Brand / legal are reviewing disclosure and usage before publish.”
- Not detected: “No SynthID watermark was found. That does not by itself establish human authorship.” (Why: Not detected ≠ human.)
- Unclear: “Watermark check was inconclusive; we are requesting master files and other provenance from the agency.”

When the daily limit hits mid-launch
A full creative pack often exceeds ~10 free checks. Options:
- Ship-critical first: primary ad sizes and homepage heroes; defer secondary crops.
- Spread remaining checks across the next rolling window — do not violate Google’s terms with account farming.
- For a shareable multi-file log, use our optional Batch Report ($9.99) (up to ~20 files, typical 2–3 business days). Larger packs: see batch check without a public API.
We do not run a private clone of Google’s engine and are not affiliated with Google.
Run a free official check on today’s hero assets, then add batch documentation if the launch pack is larger than the daily quota.
